4th Annual LOBSTER TRIP to the
DRY TORTUGAS aboard the ULTIMATE GETAWAY
August 26-28, 2008
Inspite of approaching Hurricane Gustav, we managed to complete a successful and bountiful lobster trip!!!
Great weather and calm seas (or should I say FLAT seas!) were on our side ... we made six dives the first day and five dives the second day, with some divers catching their daily limit of six on just one dive! Everyone worked hard to achieve the boat limit ... we almost made it .... Sometimes it is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time ... even though you swim hard and look in all the right places, it is a matter of plain luck.
On the third day, we dove the Baja California wreck and the tower before heading back in. Unless you have been there, it is hard to express what it is like to be greeted by dozens of 300-500 lb. Goliath Grouper upon approaching the wreck, as well as dropping down on the tower! These guys were very friendly!
Plans are already in the works for next years trip, so don't wait too late to think about going. Boat capacity is 18 and there are at least nine of us who go each year!
